2022: What I Did

2022 is in the rearview, and it was a busy one. So busy, in fact, that I haven’t really updated this blog with what exactly I’ve been working on. Better late than never, here’s a quick recap of some professional highlights of the year that was.

Sport’s Strangest Crimes: Spygate

I didn’t know anything about Formula 1 before starting work on this show. And now, I’m an expert – or at least, I know a bit about the 2007 season, which is the focus of this series of Sport’s Strangest Crimes. It was an eventful year for Formula 1, with future legend Lewis Hamilton debuting and immediately entering a dramatic feud with his team mate, Fernando Alonso. But the real drama started when a woman walked into a photocopy shop in Surrey, and handed over a stack of papers that looked suspiciously like confidential Ferrari data…

This story’s a cracker, with twists, turns, and a lineup of weird and wonderful characters. And as a bonus it was a blast to work on, the production team coming together like a well-drilled pit crew. The end result is a podcast I’m immensely proud of.

The Frost Tapes - Season 2: The Entertainers

It’s not often you get to work on a podcast series that counts Elton John, Elizabeth Taylor, Muhammad Ali and the Beatles as guests. But then it’s not often you get to work with an archive like David Frost’s. The late interviewer’s son Wilfred, has gone through boxes of old recordings, some never heard before. In The Frost Tapes Season 2, we worked with Wilfred to weave those recordings into audio biographies of beloved entertainers. There’s a few surprises, even for legends whose life stories are well known. For example, Michael Caine’s real name is Maurice Micklewhite - who would have thought?

Obsessed With… Everything I Know About Love

In 2022 I worked across a few different under BBC Sounds’ TV recap strand, Obsessed With… The Everything I Know About Love edition was a personal favourite. Maybe it was the 2010s nostalgia of the show itself (I’m getting old after all). Maybe it was the crackling chemistry of hilarious hosts Sophie Duker and Olga Koch. Or maybe it was having the honour of hosting Dolly Alderton herself – the show’s creator and wise guru of young adulthood – as a guest for the final episode.

Here’s to 2023!

I also finally got a professional photo!
