My New Normal

Long time between updates! Since we last spoke I

  • moved permanently to London

  • got a visa

  • got married

  • went on a honeymoon to Scotland

  • had both shots of a covid-19 vaccine

  • visited Devon, Cambridge and Whitstable

  • got a full-time job

So there’s been a bit going on.

My new gig is as coordinating engineer at Chalk & Blade, a podcast production company here in London. It’s been good to get right back into podcasting with a switched-on, friendly team, and I’m already working on some interesting stuff.

Like The Solo Collective. It’s a show discussing the freelancer and remote-working lifestyle, and all it entails: hustling, networking, imposter syndrome, tech addiction, work-life balance, mental health, etc. etc. If you’ve been shunted out of an office at some point in the last year, this will be relevant to you.

Speaking of side hustles - in my last act as a freelancer (for now) I produced and edited on Series 3 of Leading Edge, which has just launched. I’ve been working on this podcast for years now, and it’s a proud thing watching it go to a third series. Like everything else this past summer, production was affected by many covid pings, but we persevered. The first episode, The Rise of the Activist Leader, might be my favourite episode yet.

Exciting times ahead, although I don’t know how I’m going to top my recent flurry of activity in the next update. I’ll leave you with a shot of majestic Scotland.
